We LOVE lifestyle newborn sessions. It gives us the opportunity to capture sweet moments just after your sweet babies birth at home. The first few weeks at home with a baby are hard but they’re SO rewarding! When you allow us to capture those moments, we know we’re giving you photos that will last a lifetime. These are the kind of photos that will hang in your house, go in your photo albums and memories that you’ll keep forever! We wanted to take a chance to give you tips on how to prepare for your lifestyle newborn session.
The first thing you should know about preparing for you lifestyle newborn session is we ALWAYS schedule these during a babies sleepy time. Between 10am-noon, babies are usually pretty sleepy. This is always the best time for a lifestyle newborn session because they’re resting and are easy to pose. With that being said, its OKAY if they don’t sleep. We will do our best to capture baby in any way possible.
Baby is always happiest and sleepiest when they’re fed. Try to feed baby about 30 minutes before we arrive so they have a full belly! We also know that sometimes schedule’s get off. I personally thing babies know when somethings different, so they try to throw you for a loop! We will work with you. If baby gets hungry during our session, we can pause and let you feed them! That’s why we schedule an hour! That way we have plenty of time just in case.
Anything can happen from the time you get dressed to the time we start taking photos. When you pick out multiple outfits (for baby and mom and dad) this gives you plenty of options AND removes stress from the day of your session. Just in case baby makes a mess, you all have another outfit to put on quickly!
We typically take your session photos in the babies room, living room and sometimes the parent’s bedroom as well. Preparing those rooms for photos before hand is SO helpful in saving time during your session time. We always know that anything can happen so we are flexible and we’re willing to help in any way possible! When you’re preparing, make sure to open any curtains or blinds and turning on lights. That will help us achieve our light and airy style in your home!
